Setting up a Google Account

Google has made themselves the standard when it comes to many online activities that we take for granted. Most people know them solely for their capabilities as a search engine. But they also offer many tools to help business grow and market themselves online. Google Analytics can help you view and dissect your website’s traffic, Search Console can help site owners diagnose potential issues, and AdWords provides many tools to entrepreneurs looking to gain customers through Google’s paid advertising network. These are just a few of the important (and free) tools that Google offers for people doing business online. So it goes without saying that a Google account is a must-have in today’s competitive online environment.

The first thing that you’ll want to do is set up a gMail account. This will be the cornerstone of your Google account and all of your other accounts will share the same login credentials and profile information. To set up your account, follow the steps below:

  1. Visit https://accounts.google.com
  2. Click the ‘Create Account’ button, or if you do not see this, click ‘More Options’ then ‘Create Account’
  3. Fill out the general profile information, including your email address and password, then click ‘Next Step’
  4. Accept the Terms and Conditions by scrolling to the bottom of the popup window and clicking ‘I Agree’
  5. On the final screen, click the ‘Continue to Gmail’ button
